National Fruit Collection Cherries
The National Fruit Collection preserves over 325 different varieties offering the chance to explore the history of cherries along with the rare and unusual varieties. Cherry Fair will feature a display of cherries from the collections and the chance to try & buy a selection of tasty varieties. You won’t find many of these varieties anywhere else!
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to discover varieties lost to history and learn how cherries have become one of Britain’s favourite fruits through the ages.
Discover a few of the varieties in the National Fruit Collection in the cherry display, taste and sample some of different cherry varieties and chose your favourites to buy and take home (or enjoy on your picnic).

The Longest Cherry Pip Spit!
If you have a good set of lungs and fancy challenging yourself then get involved in the longest Cherry Pip Spit. Brogdale Cherry Fair judges will be bringing out the tape measure as you battle other festival goers for the winning title!
The Guinness World Record is set at a whooping 93ft by Brian “Young Gun” Krause (USA) and the Brogdale record (the one to beat) is 53ft. This fun competition is FREE for all ages and will run throughout the day.
The Cherry Pie Eating Competition Returns!
Get stuck in and messy with the return of the cherry pie eating competition. The 2017 champions crown will go to the fastest competitor to eat a whole cherry pie, all with no hands of course!
The competition is for young & old alike so everyone gets the chance to win and get messy.
Find one of our events team at the gate to sign up for FREE and be in with a chance of winning the coveted champion title.

Discover the orchard bursting with fruit. Enjoy a walking or tractor trailer tour of the National Fruit Collection as the cherries are in full fruit and the apple, pears and other fruit begin to develop. A sight not to be missed!
Our knowledgeable expert guides will tell you all about the history of the National Fruit Collection and the work being done here at Brogdale as well as all about the rare & heritage fruit varieties we have here.
Book your tour time at the tour desk on arrival. Please be aware the tractor trailers do get booked up so get in early to guarantee your ride.
Take aim and have a go at archery with Joe’s Bows. Young & old can have a go and try to hit those targets.
Try your hand at Archery with the help of the professional archery team and see how good your aim really is!

Kids cookery, crafts & facepainting
Kids can have a go at making there own fun and yummy cherry “mocktails” throughout the day.
Or get crafty and have a go at making cherry finger prints and cherry surprise favours plus get your face painted as a amazing creature or magical fairy while you hunt down the all the fairy doors hidden around Brogdale (Don’t forget to collect your reward form the fairies).

Say hello to animal Corner with Carlos the Goat & Friends. Carlos is a firm family favourite so don’t miss the chance to meet him and his friends!
Cheer on your favourite at the pig racing extravaganza. Pick a pig and cheer it on in a family fun filled race.
Talks & Cooking Demonstrations
Learn & discover at Brogdale with a range of FREE specialist talks and cooking demonstrations.
Cooking Demonstrations with Mum’s Kitchen Bakery and Village on the Hill will cover smokey cherry jam making cherry lemonade, cherry cakes and more.
Specialist Talks with our Brogdale experts will cover the History of Cherries, Choosing your cherry tree by Brogdale’s Plant Centre GROW and a Brewery Talk with the Mad Cat Brewery as well as talks on keeping chickens at home and an introduction to beekeeping.
Teddy Parachute, Giant Kite Flying & Bouncy castle challenge
Only for the bravest of bears! Bring your teddy bear along and take part in the teddy bear parachute with Kent Kite Flyers group.
Watch the giant and oversized kites swoop and swoosh about the the sky above Brogdale and join in with the kite making workshop.
Get bouncy and take on the bouncy castle assault course in the family picnic area.
Craft Stalls & Food
Discover a selection of stalls selling delightful crafts and handmade goodies plus local produce and food to eat on the day. A perfect place to find something unique and handmade by local craftsmen.
Tuck into ice creams, cakes, plus yummy homemade pies , breads, pickles, chutneys, pizzas and all from our local food producers.
Bring a Picnic
Bring a picnic or enjoy the fresh goodies and refreshments from the artisan food stalls. Brogdale has unlimited free parking, disabled toilets and a children’s play park.
Take a ride on the magical and quaint Faversham Miniature Railway. Kids love to ride the tiny train through the orchards especially as the cherries fruit and apples, pears and more are developing on the trees.
